FESTIVAL PROGRAMME
WEDNESDAY 12 March
7pm – Tantramar Playwrights’ Cabaret
Presented in Collaboration with Playwrights’ Atlantic Resource Centre (PARC), and readings by several playwrights from the Tantramar area. Complimentary light refreshments will be served.
SATURDAY 15 March
10am – Wetland Wonder Adventure
an interactive play for children presented by Tantramar – for children of all ages, but created with grades 2 to 6 in mind.

if you don’t wish to have your photo taken, please do not attend.
3pm – PratchettFest at the Dorchester Library
The Wyrd Sisters are back with a brand new short play, Wyrd Sisters to the Rescue, by Susan Amos.
Plus: Pub-style trivia quiz! Prizes! Snacks! Help complete the 1000-piece Discworld characters puzzle!

PratchettFest is a FREE event, and no donations for the show or the New Works Festival will be accepted at the event.

Have you ever wanted to learn about improv in a fun and laid-back environment? Now’s your chance! Join Eva Lucas for a two-hour workshop centered around the basics of improv. Goofy games and lots of laughter guaranteed! Recommended for performers ages 18 and up.
WEDNESDAY 19 March
8pm – Book readings
Charlie Rhindress is a bestselling author who will read from his latest book, Nova Scotia’s Stars of Song. This new book features profiles of six of Canada’s most successful female vocalists, including Anne Murray, Carroll Baker, Rita MacNeil and Sarah McLachlan. Charlie will read bits from his book and tell stories about some of these women who he has been lucky enough to get to know and work with.
KV Johansen will read from The Wolf and the Wild King
High fantasy born of myth and folklore, of the dark and the trees and the winter’s cold, the flint blade’s edge and the secrets that are spoken only in dreams…
Assassin, executioner, shapeshifter, and dutiful son of the undying Queen, Mairran is more used to being the instrument of death than an arbiter of justice, until he is dispatched by his mother to find the killer of a ritually-slain earl, while in the Forest, an ancient magic wakes.
Evocative of a darker, grimmer McKillip, The Wolf and the Wild King is a brooding, lyrical new work from a master of epic fantasy.
THURSDAY 20 March
11am – “News From the Front: The Fredericton Region Regiment’s participation in the WWII Italian Campaign”
The show also has popular songs from the 1940s 🎼 Carleton and York Regiment’s involvement in the WW2 Italian Campaign after serving in the UK on anti-invasion duties, on 10 July 1943, the battalion landed in Sicily as part of Operation Husky where it fought for 38 days. The battalion would then on 3 September 1943, take part in the invasion of Italy and would serve with the rest of the I Canadian Corps in the Italian Campaign 1944.

9am-12pm – Henna, Ritual and Material Engagement
Dr Particia Kelly Spurles.
Join us for an engaging, hands-on workshop where we explore the cultural significance of henna in contemporary Morocco through the lens of material engagement theory. Participants will then have the opportunity to mix henna paste and learn both traditional and contemporary application techniques.

4pm – PARC U-Compete 2025 Playwriting Competition
Shortlisted plays by high school and post-secondary students in Atlantic Canada receive a live staged reading.

The newly inaugurated Marshview Theatre Youth Company will also present 2 short plays by students at Marshview Middle School and Tantramar Regional High School
